Last week two of us took a few days training in Poland, at Novol's factory and training centre. The course focused on their Classic Car Range and the many benefits it has from both a restorer's and customer's perspectives. The entire range contains corrosion inhibitors and is designed through many hours of R & D to suit classic cars. The guys at Novol are that confident in their product, they will warranty it for 5 years on cars it has been used on from start to finish. There's more info available directly from our reception, or via email should you prefer (email@example.com).
We're excited about the possibilities, we want you to experience it too
With the coming of a new MOT test, we've already seen classics being failed for what could spell the end of the car; oil leaks being the common one. So, we've decided to offer an alternative, based on the fact that you, as the car's owner, are simply expected to "Check your vehicle is safe to drive" according to GOV.UK. Introducing.....the Body & Soul RWT Road Worthiness Test. An annual assessment of your vehicle based on pre May 2018 MOT guidelines, bookable in advance, at a cost of £180 all in. For this you will also receive a certification of Road-worthiness signed by the qualified time-served mechanic who inspected your vehicle. Having spoken to several insurance companies, they are keen on the idea and some mention offering discounts based on this, as it's essentially an annual survey.

Unfortunately we no longer are able to accommodate Insurance repair work due to the constraints the Assessors put on every job. We believe in doing a thorough job regardless of the circumstance, but Insurance Companies are increasingly squeezing repair jobs to within an inch of their lives, meaning we have to choose between doing a proper job or barely breaking even on it. Doing Insurance work also takes us away from doing what we are designed and set up to do, and disrupts the workshop for little or no gain.
Really sorry for anyone who is affected by this; I don't think we will be the last to withdraw from the Insurance market, and it will mean repairs will be carried out by people happy to cut corners in order to make a profit on these jobs. There will be no winners except the Insurers themselves.
Sadly we have taken the decision to close the coffee shop as of the end of today. We will still be offering great coffee to visitors but nowt else. Trading on this estate is getting harder as it becomes more heavily industrial, and even less "pretty" than before. After all, who wants to sip a latte whilst gazing out onto piles of scrap being tossed around.... Thank you to all those who have graced the tables over the years, we do appreciate your custom.
Feels like a lifetime ago now; Practical Classics and their entourage hit our humble abode on May 9th, and it was a manic but enjoyable few hours. Running repairs were effected on one or two of the vehicles (wouldn't be a classic car event without a breakdown), many bacon rolls, cakes and coffees were consumed, and the cafe enjoyed a plethora of admiring enthusiasts. Watch this space as we ware planning to do a late summer / autumn event. Open to suggestions on this too, so get in touch!
Having sold a bit of Penrite over the years, we are now pleased to announce we are registered stockists of the well respected Aussie brand. Founded in 1926 by 16, yes 16 year old Les Mecoles in his parent's kitchen of all places, Penrite has an unrivalled range of oils designed for particular engines and applications. We will be developing a web page associated with the range, but for now please feel free to email or call with your enquiries and we'll supply whatever info you need.
So the time has come....to get organised, with the building of a booking in/reception area. The idea of this area - within the cafe, don't worry, that's staying - is to keep the paperwork element of the workshop and customers all in one place....so much for the lie about offices being paperless by now!
It'll be in one piece by Christmas, but I think I'll be doing some holiday overtime to get it complete and decorated for the new year. So, in the meantime, pop in for a coffee and marvel at the stud walling, so to speak, whilst admiring the overflowing workshop. There's a rush to finish stuff for the holidays but it's creeping up on us waaay too quickly for my liking!
I think it's officially past the "too early" stage to wish customers old and new a Happy Christmas etc....and to update you with our opening times through the holiday period.
The coffee shop will be closed from 12/12/2015 until 04/01/2016 inclusive. The workshop will be open as usual apart from the following:
Christmas Eve CLOSED
Christmas Day CLOSED
Normal service will resume 04/01/2016 all round.
Happy holidays folks!
We've been involved in the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) Trust My Garage scheme since its very inception and are pleased that it has now been approved as a scheme by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI).
What's this mean for you?
Well, you now have the reassurance that, should the workmanship in our workshop fall below standard, there is recourse and a fully recognized trade body with whom you can help work things out. That, simply speaking, means we are pretty much bound to do our very best work for you as our customer, unlike many other workshops out and about, who will really only give you the run around if/when things go wrong.
If you want to know more about the scheme and its ramifications for you as a customer, or potential customer, of Body & Soul, please feel free to pop in for a coffee and a chat. The coffee is cheap but amazing, can't make cast iron guarantees about the chat, but I'll give it a go!

Many moons ago a naive 20 something opened a VW Specialist workshop in Cardiff due to the local market lacking the levels of care and passion for the older models. Years of hard dedication in the workshop and very little dedication to the day to day running of the business meant that when this 20 something finally had a daughter he felt he needed to go and work for someone else. That didn't work out, provided him with lots of "character-building" moments, and Body & Soul was born out of a yearning to return to what truly motivated the much older chap. As Mark Twain mused:
"Genius has no youth but starts with the ripeness of age & old experience"
